  1. i think she looks beautiful in the photos. it’s nice to see a real body. even being a ‘smaller’ person (5 foot 2-110lbs.) my body is not supermodel perfect. i have a little pouch and other curves as well.

  2. I think it’s great! We can only hope that the media gets the picture and starts showing more “real” women. Since the majority of women have cellulite and stretch marks – which are all airbrushed from photos or non-existant on stick-thin models – it’d be great to see those “imperfections” more often.

But I do hate that she’s being labeled as plus-sized. Who would point her out as being plus-sized in every day life? No one!

  3. thank you, lizzi miller! thank you, glamour! thank you for posting this, lex. my 30-something year old mommy body will never look like an airbrushed picture in a magazine…but she just made me a bit more proud of it. this, for lack of better words, just fucking rocks.

  4. i think its kind of silly that people need to see someone in a magazine in order to feel validated about their own body. i dont get it. look around you… theres plenty of different body types. why does it have to be in the pages of a magazine in order for you to be like, oh well now i feel ok about my stomach pooch!

    • ideally, I don’t think we should need to look to celebrities for validation. However, because of the proven influence of the media on people’s attitudes and perceptions, I think Lizzi Miller is doing a wonderful thing in reaffirming that you don’t need the “perfect model’s body” to be happy or beautiful.

  6. I’ve always been a fan of plus-size models! There’s a great site with many images of plus-size models here:

    They’re all gorgeous.

The site’s forum also has thought-provoking discussions about body image and the media.
